Office of Counsel Summer Internship Program
The North Carolina State Bar's Office of Counsel invites applications for its paid Summer Internship Program, running June 8 through July 31, 2026.
About the Internship
Interns gain firsthand experience in the State Bar’s regulatory work and the legal profession’s ethical framework. Throughout the summer, interns may:
- Assist with matters involving the investigation and litigation of professional misconduct
- Observe disciplinary hearings and related proceedings
- Conduct legal research and prepare reports on emerging issues in professional regulation
- Participate in the State Bar’s week-long quarterly meeting in Beaufort, where they can observe the State Bar Council in action and engage with lawyer representatives from across North Carolina
The State Bar will assist interns seeking academic credit, and reasonable accommodations to the start and end dates will be considered.
Eligibility
The internship is open to rising third-year law students. Preference may be given to applicants who have completed a course in Professional Responsibility or Ethics.
