Charlotte attorney Robert "Bobby" C. Bowers has been selected by the State Bar’s Nominating Committee to stand for election to the office of vice-president of the North Carolina State Bar.

Originally from Davie County, Bowers earned his undergraduate degree from Davidson College in 1993 and his JD from Duke University in 1996. Bowers began practicing in Winston-Salem, where he enjoyed coaching trial advocacy teams at Wake Forest University School of Law. He is currently a member at Moore & Van Allen, where his practice includes complex commercial litigation and disputes involving real estate, construction and trust, estate & fiduciary matters.

While representing Mecklenburg County as a councilor from 2015–2024, Bowers chaired the Authorized Practice Committee and the Board of Paralegal Certification and served as vice-chair of the Grievance Committee. Since 2025, he has been an advisory member of the Ethics and Issues Committees.

Bowers and his wife, Sandy, live in the Town of Davidson, where they enjoy being active in the college and business communities.

Bowers’ election will take place at the State Bar’s annual meeting in October 2026. At that time, Winston-Salem attorney Kevin G. Williams will assume the office of president, and Charlotte attorney David Allen will stand for election to president-elect.
