Job Title: Human Resources Administrator

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Operations & Human Resources

Purpose of the job: The human resources administrator is responsible for supporting the director of operations & human resources with the management of human resources functions and duties.
- Utilizes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Maintains accurate records of active job openings and received applications; manages internal and external job postings.
- Reviews job applications; conducts and/or schedules preliminary interviews.
- Conducts reference checks for new hires.
- Maintains new hire orientation and training development programs.
- Orients new employees including benefits onboarding.
- Maintains job descriptions.
- Tracks annual performance evaluations for staff members.
- Maintains personnel policies and procedures documents.
- Facilitates professional development and training for State Bar supervisors and the HR staff.
- Performs day-to-day plan administration for NC State Bar Money Purchase Pension Plan along with coordinating employee education sessions and enrolling newly eligible employees.
- Assists with monitoring and ensuring the State Bar's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Drives continuous improvement of HR processes.
- Stays updated concerning trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
- Files any workers’ compensation claims and coordinates annual audit.
- Helps senior management to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive work environment.
- Backs up director of operations and human resources.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Accountability and Authority
The human resources administrator reports to and is directly supervised by director of operations & human resources. The human resources administrator is expected to exercise discretion in fulfilling the usual responsibilities of the job and to perform the job with minimal supervision. However, the human resources administrator is expected to recognize policy issues and confer with the director of operations & human resources before determining the course of action.
Desired Education, Experience, and Skills
- Undergraduate degree in business management
- Excellent communication skills: must be articulate and use correct grammar and spelling
- Human resource experience in an office of at least 25 employees
- Experience maintaining personnel records
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Satisfactory criminal record check
Working Conditions
- Position is non-exempt in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act
- Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; one hour lunch break
- Overtime: Seldom
- Travel: Seldom
