  • Privacy Policy for the Office of Human Resources at The North Carolina State Bar.

     

    Information requested on your application that is defined by State Statute as public may be released on request and includes: job history, education and training, and work availability. Your name is private except when you are certified as eligible for appointment to a vacancy. Certain other information requested on your application is private and may be released only to you or to departments / agencies where you may be considered for employment.

    1. Name To identify you in relation to other applicants. Yes Failure to provide it may result in rejection of your application.
    2. Address To be able to notify you of your application’s status. No We will not be able to notify you of application status.
    3. Primary/Other Contact Number To contact you regarding availability for interviews, to notify you of vacancies, to request clarification on your application. No Contact for interview appointments and application processing may be delayed.
    4. Age To accurately certify applicants for certain types of work according to state law and to certify eligibility for state and its agencies employment. Yes Failure to provide it may result in rejection of your application.
    5. Immigration Status To certify applicants for work in the U.S., as determined by laws of the U.S. Dept. of Labor and the State of North Carolina. Yes Failure to provide it may result in rejection of your application.
    6. Race, gender, veteran and disability status To monitor compliance with equal opportunity and affirmative action requirements. No Your application will still be considered but will not apply to the affirmative action program.

  • Information filed with the North Carolina employment office.
  • Information obtained from background and reference checks.

    Safeguarding applicant information is important to us.  We use systems, policies and procedures to maintain the accuracy of customer information and to protect it from loss, misuse, or alteration.  Applicant information is accessible by appropriate personnel who have a business need for the information.  We provide training and communication programs to educate our personnel about the meaning and requirements of this privacy statement and the information we obtain.
  • Sharing Information with the State of North Carolina and its Agencies:
    We may share the information we collect about present and former applicants within any agency related to the state of North Carolina.  This sharing of information is limited.  Shared information includes identifying information and information we get from our dealings with you and the relationship you have with us. 

    Sharing Information with Unrelated Companies:
    We do not share your information that we collect with unrelated companies.

Special Note:
We share information with law enforcement and its agencies when requested.

How Long we Keep your Information on File:
We will retain your information on file for further applicant processes for a period no shorter than 90 days.
